Great Commission Resurgence in the SBC

At the 2009 annual meeting, Southern Baptists appointed a group known as the "Great Commission Resurgence Task Force" to examine our denominational structure from top to bottom.  The GCR Task Force was further assigned to bring recommendations to the 2010 annual meeting concerning how Southern Baptists can more effectively & efficiently fulfill the Great Commission in the 21st century.

This week, the GCR Task Force released its preliminary findings.  You can read about them here.  While they are perhaps not as radical as rumored, some of them will still spark quite a bit of debate.  This year's annual meeting in Orlando is shaping up to be a historic event in the history of our denomination.

As some of you know, I am serving on a team that is performing a similar task for the Missouri Baptist Convention.  We have just begun our work, and we will be studying the GCR report closely, as what happens at the SBC level will have a ripple effect on the MBC as well.  Pray for both groups.  God does not need Southern Baptists, but we need Him and desire His blessing!
