One Big Family

One of the best things about being a Southern Baptist?... Knowing that you're part of a 16 million member extended family.

When Selmore's mission team to Waveland, MS broke down an hour north of Jackson this past Saturday, I was able to get on http://www.sbc.net/ and locate a nearby pastor to track them down, refer them to a good mechanic, and in general, be a friend in a strange place. This particular pastor's name is Ralph Hunt of Sand Hill Baptist Church in West, MS. I would like to thank Bro. Ralph and his church for ministering to us in our time of need.

Is your church keeping its info up-to-date on the SBC website? You never know who might be "surfing!" In this instance, it was a sister church in need. Next time, it may be a lost person under conviction. In the 21st century, any church that wishes to be relavant needs a presence on the world wide web. If I were new in town, and looking for a church, the first thing I'd look for would be a website. I believe this to be a very telling indicator of whether a church is living in the past or in the present.
