Another good day at the Young Leaders' Encounter. Randy Singer, formerly of the North American Mission Board, led today's two sessions. Randy is currently practicing law, writing Christian novels, and serving as the interim pastor of an evangelical Episcopal church in Virginia Beach. (Who knew there was such a thing?) Randy did an outstanding job of challenging us in several different areas. He is both highly articulate and humerous... two things I really appreciate in a speaker.
I ate my meals with a nice couple from my hometown of Houston, MO. Scott and Brenda Barton serve as youth ministers at Ozark Baptist Church in Houston. (Ozark was one of the first churches that allowed this young pup to fill the pulpit.) It is always good to talk to home folk.
I can't say enough about the kindness of FBC-Arnold in hosting this event, and paying our expenses. What a blessed church to have Gerald Davidson as pastor for 30 years, and now, Kenny Qualls. (One of my role models in ministry.) Throw Bob Caldwell into that mix as a missions pastor, and you've got quite a team! Great job, guys.
