Looking Forward to 2008

I don't know about you, but for a lot of people I know, 2007 was a rough year. If you can identify, please read the email I have posted below. I received it the other day from one of my church members. I pray it will bless you as it blessed me . . .

The past few days I have spent considerable time looking at the past year, what it was and was not, the good and the bad, the successes and the failures.
When I took stock of this compared to my life in general I managed to come to these conclusions:

It was a sparse year financially for our family, loss of considerable income while at the same time, expenses for staple items and necessities rising at considerable rates.
And yet, the bills have managed to get paid.

Professionally, due to economic decline, increased competition, personnel changes at work, I failed to meet the goals my company had set for me, creating just another year at the same pay as the past three years ( while expenses continue to rise).
And yet, I still have a job with a solid company that provides the insurance and income we need.

In August, my wife was in a near head on collision that very well could’ve / should have taken her life or at least had her so torn that she would never be the same again.
And yet, she is still by my side, walking, talking, smiling and laughing.

My son and daughter, 21 & 18 whom I’ve not had a lot of time or relationship with the past 8 years or so, are now living with me. This has created a bit of time and financial strain around the house to help them get back on their feet.
And yet, I have a new opportunity to have and cherish my kids, and to hopefully have some positive influence on their lives and spiritual direction.

Yes, with every twist of misfortune there has been a larger and better blessing waiting on the back side so that I may truly consider myself a wealthy man.

May 2008 be a year of blessings for you and yours. God is good.
