Tomorrow, after morning worship, I will drive to Jefferson City where I will have two plus days of meetings with the Organizational Study Group (OSG) of the Missouri Baptist Convention (MBC). It's hard to believe it has been 16 months since our group was first given the task of bringing recommendations to the executive board of the MBC regarding how to make our convention more effective. It has been an eventful 16 months. Now the journey is nearing its end. Monday night will be the time we make our formal presentation to the full board. Then we will have some follow-up meetings on Tuesday, and be done.
This has been the first time I've been seriously involved with Baptist work on the state level, and it has been a good experience. The average Missouri Baptist gives very little thought to what goes on in Jeff City, but there are a lot of awesome people there doing great work on behalf of our churches. I have also really enjoyed getting to know my fellow team members on the OSG, who serve all across our state.
Missouri Baptists have a rich heritage of Kingdom work. Pray that God continues to use us. God does not need Missouri Baptists, but we desperately need Him!
